Our Practice

Dr. Liza Dimaranan, OD

Picture
Dr. Dimaranan didn't start out with a career in optometry but as an aeronautical engineer. Why the switch? "I didn't want to just sit in a cubicle staring at a computer monitor my entire career" says Dr. Liza Dimaranan. "I realized I enjoyed working with my co-workers and having more personal interaction with individuals more than anything else." So she went back to school to obtain her doctorate in optometry at the Southern California College of Optometry. After obtaining her degree, Dr. Dimaranan worked in a private practice and for an ophthalmologist, gaining valuable experience, before obtaining her own practice in Pico Rivera.
Asking her why she wanted her own practice, Dr. Dimaranan said, "With my own practice I can stress interpersonal relationships and care for my patients. I can make an impact in my patient's lives by helping them see the world better." And this is what she says motivates her, especially as she sees her patients return through the years.

Dr. Dimaranan was recently honored with the Young Optometrist of the Year Award from the California Optometric Association. She was President of the Rio Hondo Optometric Society and is currently a board member for the Pico Rivera Chamber of Commerce. She also participates in the InfantSee program where infants under one year old can have a free eye exam.
When Dr. Dimaranan isn't treating patients at the Pico Rivera Optometric Center she enjoys traveling and spending time with her family.

Auto Refractor-Auto Keratomerter

This is one of the most unique instruments in vision care. This computer measures the amount of nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism, and curvature of the cornea (front of the eye) in one reading.

This gives the Doctor a tremendous starting point regarding your visual condition. It also tells the doctor if you are a good candidate for contact lenses. This test must be performed yearly since the values can change due to growth, disease, degeneration, and stress

Visual Fields

This instrument is called a Visual Fields. It is the most sophisticated instrument in our clinic. By that we mean that the doctor's interpretation of the data from this instrument can detect more eye diseases than any instrument in our clinic. The findings from this test enable the doctor to determine if there is any retinal disease and if there is any disease process behind the eye all the way to the back of the brain. This test must be done every year since the conditions that we are loodking for can develop at any age and at any time.
Visual Fields is the most state of the art medical eye testing available. The doctor has invested in these sopisticated computers to give you the finest preventive eye health care.
